The devastation of the 20th century’s world wars stands as a stark reminder of what humanity suffers when ego, power, and greed take precedence over compassion and wisdom.
World War I (1914–1918) resulted in around 15–22 million deaths and approximately 40 million total casualties, including wounded soldiers and civilians, involving more than a dozen nations across Europe, Asia, Africa and beyond.
World War II (1939–1945) became the deadliest conflict in human history, claiming an estimated 70–85 million lives, both military and civilian, and affecting more than 60 countries across continents. The magnitude of human loss, destruction, and displacement was unprecedented. These wars left imprints of suffering that lasted generations.
In the wake of such catastrophic destruction, global efforts were made to preserve peace. Following World War II, the United Nations (UN) was formed on 24 October 1945 to maintain international peace, security, and cooperation among nations. In 1956, the World Religion Congress was organised to explore means of establishing lasting peace across humanity.
Representing Sikh tradition at such platforms, Sant Teja Singh Ji articulated a profound truth:
The only way to establish peace in the world is to provide value-based, spiritualised education to young children, education rooted in humility, care, sympathy and empathy.
When children are nurtured from a young age with these qualities, they grow into adults who are sensitive to the needs of society, considerate of others, and committed to collective well-being. Such inner refinement, when widespread, becomes the foundation of permanent peace, slow and steady, yet irreversible.
Following this vision of the saints, the mission of Akal Academy Baru Sahib is to offer value-based spiritualised education that cultivates caring, responsible, and creative personalities who can become role models for others. Through multi-curricula education - IB, Cambridge, and CBSE - students are guided academically, morally, and spiritually.
Every day at Akal Academy begins with Nitnem, grounding students in spiritual awareness and the remembrance of the Divine. Before every meal, students offer prayer; in the evening, they recite Rehras Sahib and before sleep, Sohila Sahib. Over time, these divine practices become part of their character, shaping noble personalities who genuinely care for others. Where there is care, there is no room for war.

At 12:30 a.m., under the quiet sky of Baru Sahib, the sacred Akhand Paath Sahib was completed at Gurdwara Angitha Sahib, Sant Baba Iqbal Singh Ji — in the loving memory of a soul who lived only to serve humanity.
As the final shabad was recited, every word felt like a blessing… every moment felt heavy with remembrance and gratitude.
Sant Baba Iqbal Singh Ji was not just a saint, but a guiding light for millions of rural children, a father figure to countless souls, and a living example of sewa, simplicity, and sacrifice.
Today, as we bowed our heads before Guru Sahib, we also bowed our hearts before Baba Ji’s life of purpose.
His body may have merged with the पंच तत्व, but his mission breathes on — in every school, every child, every village he transformed through education and values.
May Guru Sahib bless us with the strength to walk on the path Baba Ji showed us…
To serve selflessly.
To live humbly.
To dedicate our lives to the upliftment of others.
Sant Baba Iqbal Singh Ji —
You remain alive in our prayers, our work, and our hearts. 🙏
