4-Day Special Baisakhi Event at Akal Academy Baru Sahib.

Baisakhi Celebrations – Day 1/4

The four-day Baisakhi program is being organised at Akal Academy Baru Sahib. On Day 1, the Senior Boys organised a special assembly and an evening programme to commemorate the historic Baisakhi of 1699, when Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj formed the Khalsa Panth to stand against tyranny and injustice and safeguard the rights of the needy.

Students started the programme with Shabad Kirtan, followed by Dastar Bandi Competition (Turban tying Competition), Kavishri (Poems) and a debate on the historic significance of Baisakhi. Lastly, the students performed the Sikh martial art – Gatka, which Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji used to train the Khalsa Army for self-defence.

In every Baisakhi, students are made aware of the rich heritage they are a part of.
